Therapy through physical movement and methods. Physiotherapy is at the forefront of facilitating, rehabilitating and enhancing health and physical performance. Achieving this without reliance on surgical or medicinal intervention.
At Sports and Spinal we will always look to combine good, strong, effective hands-on intervention with empowerment and education for the best results.
Our Exercise Physiologists are university qualified allied health professionals who design exercise programs with the aim of improving a client’s range of motion, strength and functional capacity.
We develop exercise programs that are practical and can be applied both within a gym based environment and your own home environment.
The purpose of Occupational Therapy (OT) is to help people increase their functional independence in daily life while preventing or minimizing disability. Equipment prescription and modification is often used to achieve this.
At Sports and Spinal our Occupational Therapist’s work closely with our Physiotherapist’s and Exercise Physiologists’s to promote independence through mobility and function.
Remedial massage is the systematic assessment and treatment of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues of the body to assist in rehabilitation, pain and injury management.
Depending on your needs our Massage therapists can provide relaxation massages, sports specific, deep tissue and pregnancy massages.
Nutrition & Dietetics
A dietitian is a person with a qualification which allows them to understand the science behind how food and drink can help promote good health. They individualise your nutritional needs based on your current health conditions and can help improve your lifestyle for those living with a variety of medical conditions.
Sports and Spinal have teamed up with JK Healthcare to optimise your allied health care needs. Learn more about Jodie and her team at http://www.jkhealthcare.com.au/
Dry needling, also known as myofascial trigger point dry needling, is the use of either solid filiform needles (also referred to as acupuncture needles) or hollow-core hypodermic needles for therapy of muscle pain, including pain related to myofascial pain syndrome.
At Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy Clinics our team have all done post graduate training in pressure point and dry needling techniques so you are in safe hands.
Clinical Pilates is a system of exercises designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture, and enhance mental awareness. Offering both mat and reformer sessions our Pilates trained physiotherapist can cater to all fitness levels.
Using Clinical Pilates is also a great way to improve performance after an injury and our physiotherapists will often use pilates based exercises during your treatment sessions.
Gaitscan / Orthotics
GaitScan™ is a state of the art computerised scanning system that provides a detailed analysis of your feet and their movement. This analysis, combined with our physiotherapists’ experience and knowledge, detects abnormal foot function which may be affecting your feet or other parts of your body.
At Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy, we can prescribe foot orthotics to help correct your specific foot and body imbalance. You can help us by discussing any nagging foot, leg, or back problems, and even by simply asking if your feet could be part of the problem. The information provided by TOG GaitScan™ can help assess the need for orthotics, or indicate that orthotic therapy is not required.
ESWT, also known as Shockwave Therapy, or Radial Shockwave Therapy, provides treatments to patients suffering from a range of chronic conditions that are notoriously difficult to resolve.
Radial shockwave therapy uses high pressured acoustic shockwaves that travel through the skin to break down targeted tissue and stimulate tissue repair. Essentially it kick starts the body’s natural healing mechanisms.
Real Time Ultrasound
Real time ultrasound utilises an ultrasound machine to assist with the assessment and treatment of certain conditions. It provides real time imaging by transmitting sound waves through the body. These sound waves are then reflected by tissues in the body to create images on the screen for us to interpret. The benefit of real time ultrasound is that it allows us to see how your muscles contract whilst performing certain exercises.
RTUS can also be used to see how well an injury is healing – or indeed what stage of healing it is in. This can be essential for sports people who are considering returning to sport or training and want to be sure that they are not risking further injury.
At Sports and Spinal Physiotherapy we offer a wide range of casts, splints and braces for all injury types and body parts. We source the best quality brands to ensure you receive the best possible supports and bracing necessary to overcome injury.
Our range consists of Aircast walkers, knee supports, hinged knee braces, range-of-motion braces, back supports, wrist supports, arm slings, and many more. We also offer fibreglass casting as well as EXOS braces which are removable, adjustable, reformable and waterproof.
Sports and Spinal Mobile now providing in-home physiotherapy, occupational therapy and exercise physiology services to the Port Macquarie-Hastings region. All our therapists are highly skilled and qualified, and operate all over the region.
